How to Connect StrengthLog to ChatGPT or Claude

StrengthLog MCP lets you connect your StrengthLog account to ChatGPT or Claude and ask questions about your training.

StrengthLog MCP is available to StrengthLog Premium users.

Once connected, you can ask an AI assistant to summarize your recent training, show how an exercise has developed over time, find your personal records, look at your logged body measurements, and more.

What You Need

To use StrengthLog MCP, you need:

  • An active StrengthLog Premium subscription.
  • MCP connections enabled in the StrengthLog app.
  • ChatGPT or Claude.

Enable MCP Connections in StrengthLog

Before connecting an AI assistant, you need to allow MCP connections in StrengthLog:

  1. Go to Profile.
  2. Tap Settings in the upper-right corner.
  3. Select Connections & data sharing.
  4. Select StrengthLog MCP.
  5. Turn on Allow MCP Connections.

This allows supported AI assistants to request data from your StrengthLog account after you connect and authorize them.

Connect StrengthLog to ChatGPT

StrengthLog is available as a plugin in ChatGPT.

  1. Open Plugins in ChatGPT.
  2. Search for StrengthLog.
  3. Select StrengthLog and choose Install plugin.
  4. Select Connect when prompted.
  5. Sign in to your StrengthLog account and authorize the connection.

Once connected, you can ask ChatGPT questions about your training. You can simply ask a question and let ChatGPT use StrengthLog when relevant, or select StrengthLog directly in a conversation.

Availability of plugins may depend on your ChatGPT plan, workspace, region, and the version of ChatGPT you’re using.

Connect StrengthLog to Claude

StrengthLog is available as a connector in Claude.

To connect your StrengthLog account:

  1. Open Claude Web or Claude Desktop*.
  2. Open Settings → Connectors in Claude.
  3. Select Browse connectors.
  4. Find and select StrengthLog.
  5. Follow the instructions to sign in to your StrengthLog account and authorize the connection.

You can then enable StrengthLog for a conversation from Claude’s + → Connectors menu.

If you’re using Claude through a Team or Enterprise organization, an administrator may need to add the StrengthLog connector to your organization before you can connect your own StrengthLog account.

*You can use our MCP in the Claude mobile app, but to find our connector you must be on either Claud Web or Claude Desktop.

What Can I Ask?

Here are a few examples:

  • “Summarize my training last month.”
  • “How has my bench press developed over the last six months?”
  • “Show my personal bests in the squat.”
  • “How many sets did I train for each muscle group last month?”
  • “Show my latest logged body measurements.”
  • “Compare my training volume this month with last month.”

The information available depends on what you’ve logged in StrengthLog.

StrengthLog MCP Is Read-Only

StrengthLog MCP provides read-only access to your connected account.

AI assistants can retrieve your training data to answer your questions, but they cannot create, modify, or delete workouts or other data in your StrengthLog account.

Reading your training data and giving an AI permission to change it are fundamentally different permissions. We’re starting with read-only access because it provides a simple and understandable security boundary while still making a lot of useful things possible.

What Data Can an AI Assistant Access?

When you ask a question, the AI assistant can request the StrengthLog data needed to answer it. Depending on your question, this may include:

  • Logged workouts, exercises, sets, reps, and weights.
  • Training summaries and statistics.
  • Personal records.
  • Logged body measurements.

Connecting StrengthLog does not mean that the AI assistant automatically receives your entire StrengthLog account. Data is requested through the connection when needed to answer your questions.

Once information has been sent to an AI service, that service’s own terms and privacy policy apply to how it handles the information.

Disconnect StrengthLog

You can stop AI assistants from accessing new StrengthLog data at any time.

In StrengthLog, go to:

Profile → Settings → Connections & data sharing → StrengthLog MCP

Turn off Allow MCP Connections to disable MCP access to your StrengthLog account.

You can also remove the connection from the AI assistant itself.

In ChatGPT, you can manage the StrengthLog connection under Settings → Plugins.

In Claude, go to Customize → Connectors, find StrengthLog, and remove the connector or disconnect your account.

Troubleshooting

If an AI assistant can’t access your StrengthLog data, make sure that:

  • You have an active StrengthLog Premium subscription.
  • Allow MCP Connections is enabled in StrengthLog.
  • You’ve connected and authorized your StrengthLog account in the AI assistant.
  • You’re signed in to the correct StrengthLog account.

If the connection previously worked but has stopped working, try disconnecting StrengthLog from the AI assistant and connecting it again.
